Colonials Announce Fall Contests

RMU will host their alumni game on Homecoming weekend

Moon Township, Pa. – The Robert Morris University men's lacrosse team will compete in three exhibition contests this month as they prepare for the upcoming 2014 season.

The Colonials will travel to Buffalo, N.Y. to take on Team Canada on Sunday, Oct. 13 at 11:00 a.m., and then return home on Friday, Oct. 18 to play in their annual alumni game under the lights at 7:30 p.m. on Homecoming weekend. RMU will also scrimmage The Hill Academy on Sunday, Oct. 20 at 2:00 p.m. at Joe Walton Stadium.

Team Canada's selection camp, which runs from Oct. 11-14 at Canisius College, will feature not only the Colonials, but Denver and Canisius as well. Canada has recently trimmed their roster from 97 to 51 players.

The alumni game will be the fifth in the program's young history. Since September 2011, former RMU players have claimed 13 professional draft selections between Major League Lacrosse (MLL) and the National Lacrosse League (NLL). Recently, the Colonials had four former student-athletes selected in the NLL Entry Draft, which was the highest number from any school.

This will be the third alumni contest that is played at night under the lights.

The RMU men's lacrosse team, under the direction of third-year head coach Andrew McMinn, finished the 2013 season at 8-7, marking the fifth-straight season the Colonials have ended the year with a winning record. RMU earned their first post-season win in program history and advanced to its first NEC Championship Game in 2013.
