RMU Men's Hockey Thanks Supporters At Golf Outing

Colonials host some of program's biggest fans at Allegheny Country Club

Former Colonials standout Denny Urban (left) and Boston Bruins defenseman Matt Bartkowski, both from Pittsburgh, joined the fun at the ninth annual RMU Hockey Golf Outing.
Sewickley Heights, Pa. - The ninth annual Robert Morris University Men's Hockey Golf Outing was held under sunny skies Friday afternoon at Allegheny Country Club.

Head coach Derek Schooley and the Colonials welcomed 121 golfers for lunch before an 18-hole scramble on one of the more spectacular courses in western Pennsylvania. Calling their passion "incredible," Schooley thanked the sponsors and attendees for their continued support of RMU hockey. Outing chairman Jim Vitale also met and greeted the participants; this was the fifth consecutive year the Colonials have partnered with Allegheny Country Club to host the event.

Golfers received free snacks and drinks throughout the round, a buffet-style dinner afterward, RMU hockey apparel and two tickets to a game this season at 84 Lumber Arena. Prior to the round, golfers could bid on sports memorabilia - including generous donations from the Penguins, Pirates and Steelers - and countless other prizes through a silent-auction format.

Among the many folks making it out to Sewickley Heights on the warm late-summer day were RMU hockey alumni and Pittsburgh natives Denny Urban and Andrew Blazek. Mt. Lebanon's Matt Bartkowski, a defenseman with the Boston Bruins, also joined in the fun.
