Pittsburgh, Pa. - This Saturday night, in conjunction with the It's About The Warrior Foundation (IATW), the
Robert Morris University men's hockey team is proud to host Military Appreciation Night at 84 Lumber Arena.
All active military members and veterans will receive free admission with the presentation of a valid ID at the Island Sports Center front desk. As a salute to the sacrifices of our country's military, the Colonials will wear
camouflage jerseys with the IATW logo when they face off with league rival American International at 7:05 p.m. Saturday.
"America's fighting men and women sacrifice much to ensure that our great nation remains free," said RMU head coach
Derek Schooley. "We owe a debt of gratitude to the soldiers who have paid the price for this cause. RMU hockey would like to honor and recognize these fine individuals that protect our nation on a daily basis. Thank you for your sacrifice and we appreciate what you do."
The mission of IATW is to assist and empower post-9/11 veterans and their families with financial, educational, recreational or therapeutic needs, thus leading to a successful and enriched life. The IATW focuses its attention on veterans from the Tri-State Area - western Pennsylvania, eastern Ohio and northern West Virginia. For more on the foundation, go to

Retired United States Marine Corporal Brandon Rumbaugh will drop the first puck prior to Saturday's game. Rumbaugh, who served five years as a mortar gunner and squad leader in Iraq and Afghanistan, lost both of his legs in a 2012 IED explosion while assisting a fellow soldier. The native of Uniontown, Pa., now serves as a
motivational speaker for IATW while also competing in powerlifting events and ATV races.
In addition, fans will be able to purchase IATW merchandise while RMU and American International compete in the second game of the weekend matchup; the two teams also play at 7:05 p.m. Friday at 84 Lumber Arena. The Colonials (13-5-4, 10-3-3 Atlantic Hockey) have a four-point lead over their nearest pursuers as they aim for their first regular-season league title in 11 years of Division I play.
Counting this weekend, there are just five home games remaining in the regular season. For more information, including ticket availability and pricing, visit
