Annapolis, Md. – Four student-athletes, including two freshmen, posted top-five finishes as the
Robert Morris University indoor track & field team opened its 2015-16 season Tuesday evening at the Navy Lid Lifter inside Wesley A. Brown Field House.
RMU collected four wins in the double-dual scoring format, including victories over Georgetown and American, as 10 teams took part in the event on the season's opening day. Eight freshmen were among the 18 Colonials that competed in the meet.
Freshman
Lilly Harnish had a strong collegiate debut as she tied for fourth in the high jump by clearing 1.60 meters. Classmate
Nicole Florio took eighth in the same event, which featured 19 athletes, by posting a height of 1.55 meters.
Freshman
Madison Mueseler posted the fifth-fastest time in the 200-meter dash by stopping the clock in 25.84 seconds. Senior
Tatianna Struble was 11th in the same discipline, which featured 37 athletes, with a new personal best of 26.45 seconds.
Sophomore
Maggie Prorok finished fifth in the 5000 meters with a time of 18:52.27. The mark easily surpassed Prorok's best time from her rookie season and stands as one of the top 10 marks in program history.
Senior
Jessica Guyett placed fourth in the shot put with a distance of 12.06 meters.
The Colonial 4x400 meter relay team placed seventh with a time of 4:03.68. Mueseler led off the relay and was followed by senior
Maria Scanlon, freshman
Mathilde Terleth and Struble.
Mueseler and Struble also tied for 10th in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.44 seconds.
RMU will be right back in action this Friday, Dec. 4, as it takes part in the YSU Icebreaker at Youngstown State.
