Prisuta on Pucks: Honoring a Superb Senior Class

The senior class poised to play its final regular-season home game on Saturday night at 84 Lumber Arena has already contributed to a program-record 77 victories over the past four seasons and isn't necessarily done just yet.

The finest hours for Scott Jacklin, Jeff Jones, David Rigatti and Cody Wydo may still be ahead of them.

They'll be honored on Saturday night for having already established a lasting legacy Robert Morris.

"They've been able to accomplish the raising of more than one banner at the Island Sports Center," Colonials head coach Derek Schooley noted. "They've won a lot of hockey games."

Enough to capture last season's Atlantic Hockey postseason championship and the accompanying trip to the NCAA Tournament, the first such journey in RMU's on-ice history.

Enough to secure this season's Atlantic Hockey regular-season championship, another first-time achievement for a program that has grown along with Jacklin, Jones, Rigatti and Wydo over the past four seasons.

The Colonials will accept a championship trophy following Saturday night's regular-season finale against Niagara.

But the headlining event remains Senior Night festivities in honor of a very special class:

Scott Jacklin
6-foot, 185 pounds, Kimberley, British Columbia
This season: 32 games played, 11 goals, 16 assists, 27 points
Career totals: 138, 45-56--101
Schooley: "He's going to go down as one of the all-time leading scorers in program history and as a guy who has gotten better as his career has gone on. When Scott is engaged and playing as hard as he possibly can he's a very good complement to Cody Wydo and Zac Lynch (on the top line the last two seasons). We don't go to the NCAA Tournament without his goal in overtime in the (Atlantic Hockey) semifinals last year (against Niagara). He actually won the face-off to set up that goal."

Jeff Jones
5-9, 175, Revelstoke, British Columbia
This season: 26, 1-8—9
Career totals: 124, 18-43--61
Schooley: "Probably one of the most talented players we've had with his skill set and great hands. He can play anywhere in your lineup, left wing, right wing, center, on the power play, killing penalties; he's been able to play in a lot of different spots for us. He always played on one of our top three lines last year. This year he got hurt and Daniel Leavens kind of went in his spot (on the third line) and Jeff has been very accepting of his role. He's been a great team guy and he knows that winning is more important than personal success."

David Rigatti
6-0, 190, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
This season: 32, 2-4—6
Career totals: 110, 2-12--14
Schooley: "A hard worker, a team guy and a guy who brings it every day. You wish you could have a dozen David Rigattis for how hard he works and how he never takes a day off. He didn't have a goal until this year but we've always found a spot in the lineup for him. When he scored his first career goal (on Oct. 31 against RIT) our bench was elated."

Cody Wydo
5-11, 185, Southgate, Michigan
This season: 32. 19-21—40
Career totals: 146, 84-63--147
Schooley: "He's a pure goal scorer. He scores goals every different way and he's scored a lot of big goals in his career. From his hat trick in the Atlantic Hockey Championship Game (against Canisius last season), to his goal against Minnesota (in the NCAA Tournament) to his goal with 10 seconds left against RIT (which won this season's AHC regular-season title), it just goes to show you he's scored a lot of huge goals. It's going to be hard to replace a player that scores goals like that."
