Williams Inks Contract With Red Bulls II

Harrison, N.J. – Speedy Williams signed a professional contract with the New York Red Bulls II of the United Soccer League in the middle of last week. Williams is 24th player in team history to ink a pro contract.

The Red Bulls II is in its first season of existence and is the USL affiliate of the New York Red Bulls of Major League Soccer. The team currently sits in seventh in the USL Eastern Conference with an overall record of 6-7-4.

Williams, a native of Kingston, Jamaica, was a two-time All-Northeast Conference selection as a central midfielder during his four-year career with Robert Morris University. He was a second team pick as a junior in 2013 before earning a spot on the All-NEC First Team in 2014. Williams added National Soccer Coaches Association of America All-Region honors to his résumé as a senior.

The central midfielder had a career-best 14 points in his senior campaign. The total, comprised of six goals and four assists, was the sixth-best output among league players. Williams' point total was second only to Brett's among Colonial players. He scored single goals against Rider, VMI, Duquesne and Sacred Heart. In a 4-0 win over George Washington, Williams picked up a helper on three of the team's goals. That assist total is tied for second most in team history.

A four-year starter, Williams finished his Colonials career 12th all-time with 16 assists. He tacked on eight goals to cap his career with 32 total points. The catalyst of the RMU offense, he helped RMU lead the NEC in goals and points in both 2013 and 2014.
