Moon Township, Pa. – A goal in each half lifted St. Francis Brooklyn over the Robert Morris University men's soccer team, 2-0, in Northeast Conference (NEC) action this afternoon from a windy North Athletic Complex.
St. Francis Brooklyn (8-4-2, 4-0-0 NEC) flexed its muscle across the defensive backline, only allowing one Robert Morris (3-7-2, 0-2-1 NEC) attempt to reach its goalkeeper. On the offensive end, the league-leading Terriers took 16 chances to the Colonials' 11 at goal, with eight shots hitting their target.
The visitors' first goal came in the 35th minute when Salvatore Barone flicked the ball forward to a streaking Yussuf Olajide, who broke free with a couple of touches before slotting it under a diving Winter Fondi. An insurance tally came in the 63rd minute off a Federico Curbello corner as Collyns Laokandi created space in front and headed home the cross.
Fondi made six saves between the sticks. Lucas Puntillo generated a team-high three shots in the loss.
Robert Morris hits the road next for a pair of conference tilts, starting with a Friday, Oct. 21 meeting at 3:00 p.m. with Bryant.
