Krivoniak Tabs Second CoSIDA Academic All-District Nod

Krivoniak earns second consecutive Academic All-District honor for RMU volleyball

Greenwood, Ind. – Senior April Krivoniak of the Robert Morris University volleyball team has been named to the 2016 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Team, as announced by CoSIDA this afternoon.

This is the second straight season Krivoniak has been named to the team, which recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. Krivoniak, a biomedical engineering major, has amassed a 3.99 GPA since her first semester at RMU in 2013.

The Latrobe, Pa., native is the seventh Colonial in volleyball program history to receive the prestigious honor and the second under head coach Dale Starr. Krivoniak's award marks the 13th of its kind for the program. She is the fifth Colonials volleyball student-athlete to earn multiple CoSIDA Academic All-District honors during her career.

The fourth-year opposite started 25 of all 27 matches played this season. Krivoniak ranks second on the squad in service aces (27), fourth in digs per set (2.99), and fifth in kills per set (1.59). She has posted three double-doubles on the season (14 career) and recorded digs in double figures in 18 outings this year, including in four of the Colonials' last five matches. She has hit at .300 or above in two NEC contests.

Krivoniak posted a career-high 26 digs at The Citadel on Aug. 26, and recorded a career-best 14.0 points versus Youngstown State on Sept. 13. She is one of two NEC representatives to be named to this year's CoSIDA Academic All-District Team.

Additionally, Krivoniak is a two-sport athlete at RMU. A member of the women's track and field team, she competes in the shot put event. In 2016, she was named NEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year in indoor track & field after being named to the same title for volleyball in 2015. She also earned 2016 All-East Coast honors and a spot on the 2016 All-NEC Second Team for shot put.
