RMU to Host Play 4Kay Game in Regular Season Finale

Robert Morris will be raising money for the Kay Yow Cancer Fund on Monday, Feb. 27 in its last game of the regular season

Moon Township, Pa. – The Robert Morris University women's basketball team is set to host its annual Play 4Kay game on Monday, Feb. 27 at 7:00 p.m. in its regular season finale against Fairleigh Dickinson University.

The Play4Kay initiative is an opportunity for a nation of coaches to raise awareness and funds for women's cancer research on the court, across campuses, in communities, and beyond. Since its inception in 2007, Play4Kay has helped the Kay Yow Cancer Fund support over $5.28 million in research about the disease as well as other related projects.

Robert Morris is holding a Push-Up Challenge during halftime of Monday's game, with donations going towards the Kay Yow Foundation. Participants will attempt to do as many push-ups as they can over a five-minute span, with the top two male and female scores being rewarded. The first place male and female will each win a $75 gift card to Best Buy, while the second place recipients will claim a $25 gift card.

Kay Yow was the head coach for the North Carolina State University women's basketball team from 1975 until 2009 and fought breast cancer three different times between 1987 to January 24, 2009, when she sadly passed away from the disease. Yow's vision for the Fund was to raise money and further cutting-edge research conducted by the nation's top doctors and medical experts to allow more and more cancer patients to have access to experimental drugs and clinical trials.

The Colonials have been donning pink jerseys during all home games this month.
