Robert Morris Announces 2018 Schedule

1/2/2018 4:45:00 PM

Moon Township, Pa. - The Robert Morris University women's lacrosse program announces its 2018 schedule, including challenging competition both at home and on the road, featuring non-conference road trips through the states of Virginia and California.

The Colonials open the season at home against Bucknell on Saturday, Feb. 10, before a meeting with crosstown rival Duquesne on the Dukes home turf, Saturday, Feb. 17. Robert Morris will be coming off its first-ever win over Duquesne, which took place at Joe Walton Stadium last season.

Next up, a two-game swing through Virginia where RMU visits Radford and Liberty University on Feb. 23 and 25. Radford is a first-time opponent and the Colonials take a 2-0 all-time record over the Flames into the game at Liberty.

Robert Morris then returns home to face George Washington for its first game in March -- Colonials vs. Colonials -- a rematch of last season's 10-9 loss at GWU.

The Colonials will back their bags for sunny California, a welcome break in the weather from Moon Township in March. On March 3, RMU will face another first-time opponent at University of California at Berkeley, before a March 5 match at UC Davis. RMU is 1-3 all-time against the Aggies, with the last meeting coming in 2014, a 15-7 road loss. The other three meetings were early in program history, with losses in Moon Township and in Davis, in 2005 and 2006, with the Colonials lone win coming at UC Davis in 2009, 13-8 over the Aggies.

The eighth all-time meeting between RMU and St. Bonaventure comes on March 18, with the Colonials winning the last three clashes, in each of the last three seasons.

Louisville will make its first appearance at Robert Morris as RMU looks for its first win in the series on March 24, the third ever matchup of the programs. The Colonials first played the Cardinals in 2008, and dropped a hard-fought 9-4 decision on 18th-ranked Louisville's home turf last year.

The Colonials renew the series with Ohio State in Columbus this season as well, in the first meeting with the Buckeyes since 2012. RMU and OSU also played in 2005, 2006 (at RMU) and 2007. Robert Morris looks for its first-ever win over the Buckeyes, wrapping up non-conference play on March 28.

Northeast Conference play begins with a pair of games against Wagner and Mount St. Mary's on April 6 and 8. The Colonials hit the road for three games, beginning with in-state rival Saint Francis, a Friday the 13th contest. The road portion of RMU's schedule concludes with April 20 and 22 matchups at Bryant and Central Connecticut. The final home weekend of the season brings Sacred Heart and LIU Brooklyn to town on April 27 and 29 to conclude NEC regular season play.

The Colonials look to qualify for the NEC postseason tournament, which will be held on May 3-5, for the fifth consecutive season. Robert Morris is coming off its fifth consecutive winning season, now under the direction of head coach Katrina Silva.
