Moon Township, Pa. – Andrew Toole, The Pat Gallagher Head Coach for
Robert Morris University men's basketball, announced Thursday that three student-athletes have signed National Letters of Intent (NLI) to join the program.
Joining RMU for the 2020-21 campaign are guards
Enoch Cheeks (Providence, R.I. / Putnam Science Academy),
Kam Farris (Burlington, Vt. / Redemption Christian Academy) and
Trayden Williams (Charlotte, N.C. / North Mecklenburg).
"We're excited to sign three student-athletes the caliber of Enoch, Kam and Trayden," Toole said. "Each of them bring a unique skill set to our program, whether it's athleticism, toughness or the ability to handle and score the basketball. We're looking forward to the impact they make on our program."
Cheeks, 6'3" and 170 pounds, played for Expressions Elite in one of the most competitive summer circuits, the Elite Youth Basketball League (EYBL), in the summer of 2019. He averaged 10.4 points per game, including a season-high 18 points in a 78-56 win over the Georgia Stars. A tenacious defender, Cheeks also played prep basketball for Kimball Union Academy.
The 6'3", 175-pound Farris played for WrightWay Skills on the AAU circuit in the spring of 2019, where he earned all-league accolades after stellar play in both the Hoop Group Southern Jam Fest and the NERR Super 16 Showcase. Farris also played prep basketball for Rice Memorial.
Williams, 6'2" and 170 pounds, is a natural on both ends of the court, applying consistent pressure defensively while showing the ability to both distribute and score the basketball. Last season, Williams averaged 10.7 points and 6.3 assists for a North Mecklenburg squad that finished with an overall record of 23-5 (.821) and won the I-Meck 4A championship. In the 2019-20 season opener, Williams scored 18 points in a 79-55 win over Independence.
Led by Toole, Robert Morris (1-4) continues a four-game road swing with an 8:00 p.m. tip tonight against UIC at Credit Union 1 Arena in Chicago, Ill. The Colonials conclude their trip Saturday, Nov. 23, @ Marquette before returning home to host Geneva Wednesday, Nov. 27, at 7:00 p.m. at Peoples Court at the UPMC Events Center.
