RMU & Syracuse Women’s Hockey Join Forces in “Sticks Together” Campaign This Saturday

11/1/2023 4:18:00 PM

Moon Township, Pa. – This Saturday, November 4, the RMU women's hockey program will partner with Sticks Together at its 3 p.m. game against Syracuse at Clearview Arena at the RMU Island Sports Complex.

Sticks Together, started by Syracuse hockey student-athlete, Sarah Thompson, is a not-for-profit foundation that aims to provide the necessary resources to give children in underprivileged communities the opportunity to learn and play the sport of hockey.

The purpose of this Saturday's event will be to help bring awareness to the foundation and assist Sticks Together to bring hockey to Palwan, Philippines in May 2024.

Current RMU hockey student-athlete, Madison Primeau, joined the Sticks Together team while she was a student-athlete at Syracuse prior to transferring to RMU. Madison, along with Sticks Together, helped bring the game of hockey to South Africa last May.

More information regarding "Sticks Together" can be found through the following link.

To help support the foundation's initiatives to grow the game, RMU's "chuck-a-puck" contest will return this Saturday, with the lucky winner receiving two (2) tickets for the upcoming November 11th Pittsburgh Penguins game against the Buffalo Sabres at PPG Paints Arena.

To recognize Sticks Together and the connections with both the Syracuse and RMU women's hockey programs, the ceremonial puck drop will be received by Thompson and Primeau as well as SU's Director of Hockey Operations Tracey Edson, who went on the inaugural Sticks Together trip to Buenos Aires, Argentina in 2022.

Tickets for Saturday's game are on sale now and can be purchased by using the following link or at the Clearview Arena Box Office.
