A native of Swindon, England, Mackman was a four-time All-Northeast Conference selection for Robert Morris, finishing in the top 10 individually at the NEC Men's Golf Championships each of his four seasons with the program. Mackman finished as the runner-up at the 2005 NEC Championships with Bradley Corcoran of LIU Brooklyn, finishing with a final score of 150. He concluded his career with a stroke average of 77.15. As a freshman in 2001, Mackman won the 2001 Holiday Inn Colonial Classic with a two-day score of 148 and posted 11 career finishes in the top 10 of tournaments. Mackman posted the best average score of any Colonial on the squad in three of his four seasons, with his best year coming as a senior in 2004-05. That year he averaged 76.8 strokes per round. As a team, the Colonials finished as runner up at the NEC Championships twice (2003, 2004) during his career. Mackman joins former Colonials John Rech (1993), Bart Mease (2004) and Paul Snyder (2008) from the men's golf program to be inducted into the RMU Athletic Hall of Fame.
