In 13 seasons guiding Robert Morris from 1978 to 1991, Swalga posted an overall record of 211-137 (.606) record, making him the winningest basketball coach in RMU Division I history. He led RMU to at least 14 wins in 10 of his 13 years at the helm, including a pair of 20-win campaigns, and guided the Colonials to NEC Tournament titles in 1988 and 1991. The 1983-84 team that Swalga led finished 23-5 (.821), with the victory total standing as a program record until 2007. Swalga spent 14 years as the Director of Athletics and Assistant Dean of Students at the University of Pittsburgh-Greensburg and has been the Director of Athletics at Point Park University since 2006.
