A four-year letterwinner at linebacker for Robert Morris, O'Connell finished his career with 272 tackles, which ranks sixth in the RMU career record book. A native of Ronkonkoma, N.Y., O'Connell was named a First Team All-American by Don Hansen’s National Weekly Football Gazette and garnered All-Northeast Conference First Team honors in both 1996 and 1997.
