Denver, Colo. – The RMU men's and women's cross country teams opened the 2023 season Friday at the Fisher Invitational on the campus of Westminster College, sweeping team honors.
WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
RMU placed three runners in the top 10 and six in the top 15 en route to scoring 35 points and outlasting Clarion (57) for the team championship of the Fisher Invitational. Rounding out the field was Ursuline (69), Penn State Behrend (88), Westminster (146), Hiram (149), Chatham (164) and Thiel (195).
CABANA BAY
Junior
Frances Kabana paced the Colonials individually at the Fisher Invite, finishing with a time of 18:56.92 in the five-kilometer course to earn silver. In the process Kabana shaved almost a minute-and-a-half off her previous personal best (20:17.0), which came last season on the same course.
TOP TEN
Sophomore
Julia Dill finished fourth for the Colonials at the Fisher Invite with a time of 19:13.13, while junior
Laura Croco crossed the finish line at 19:38.71 to finish sixth.

MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
Each of the top seven harriers to cross the finish line were Colonials as RMU won the team championship with a team score of 15. Penn State Behrend finished second with 50 points, followed by the host Titans (90) and Thiel (109).
ROMAN CANDLES
Freshman Roman Galioto had a stellar NCAA Division I debut Friday, winning the individual title of the Fisher Invitational. He navigated the five-kilometer course in a time of 15:49.79 to outlast sophomore teammate Tyler Paszkowski, who claimed silver at 15:53.29. Earning bronze was sophomore Chris McGlynn, who crossed the finish line at 15:57.29.
EIGHT-FOR-EIGHT
RMU garnered the top eight positions in the meet Friday, 10 of the top 11 and 14 of the top 16 spots. Sophomore Colten Morris finished fourth at 15:58.54, followed by junior Skyler Vavro (16:10.19). Sophomore Ryan Paris clocked in at 16:13.54 to earn sixth, freshman Nathan Wentling closed at 16:13.79 to finish seventh and senior Luke Byrne claimed eighth with a time of 16:21.78.
