Pittsburgh, Pa. -- Robert Morris University Goaltender
Dalton Izyk has been named the Atlantic Hockey conference Goaltender of the Week.
Izyk surpassed the 1,000 save mark for his career, recording 34 saves in a 4-0 shutout of #10 Michigan, the Colonials 6th win all-time over a top ten team. The shutout was the fifth of Izyk's career, tying him with Eric Levine (2009-2013) for the RMU program record. Izyk is 2-0-1 in 3 games played this season. Izyk's shutout at 10th-ranked Michigan marks the first time the Wolverines have been shut out at Yost Ice Arena since January 16, 2009.
Izyk, a junior from Oswego, NY, is ranked third nationally with a .961 save percentage and his 1.36 goals against average ranks sixth overall. One of just 23 active goaltenders to allow a total of 4 goals or less this season, Izyk is the only one of those netminders to play in at least three games.
In Atlantic Hockey conference rankings, Izyk is first in save percentage, goals against average and fewest goals allowed (starting in at least two games). Also a nominee for the Mike Richter Award given to NCAA hockey's best goaltender, Izyk leads the conference in win percentage as well (.833).
Robert Morris,
