Somerset, N.J. – Nneka Ezeigbo, a freshman center on the Robert Morris University women's basketball team, garnered Rookie of the Week accolades from the Northeast Conference (NEC), as announced by the league this afternoon.
This is the second NEC Rookie of the Week honor for Ezeigbo, who also was recognized by the conference two weeks ago on Dec. 5. She has started the last eight games for Robert Morris and leads the team in blocked shots (12), is second in rebounding (5.9), and fifth in scoring (6.8).
Ezeigbo, a native of Ewing, N.J., matched her career-high for scoring at Morgan State on Sunday, finishing with 11 points on 5-of-6 shooting. She added three rebounds and a pair of assists to her offensive totals, while tallying two steals and a block on the other end of the floor. All three of Ezeigbo's 11-point performances have come over the Colonials' last four games.
Robert Morris begins NEC play on Thursday, Dec. 29 at 1:00 p.m. with a rematch of March's championship game at Sacred Heart.
