Freshman running back Rameses Owens racked up the weekly honors after an impressive performance @ North Dakota (9/6) last Saturday, and he adds the RMU Male Student-Athlete of the Week to his list. A native of Shaker Heights, Ohio, Owens racked up 237 all-purpose yards in a 16-13 setback against UND, including 199 rushing yards on 39 attempts, an average of 5.1 yards per carry. Owens established an RMU single-game record for rushing attempts, and his 199 yards on the ground is a new freshman record. Owens scored on a two-yard run at the 9:28 mark of the third quarter to give the Colonials a 13-9, giving him touchdown runs in each of the first two games of his career. For his efforts against North Dakota, Owens was tabbed both the Northeast Conference Offensive Player of the Week as well as the NEC Rookie of the Week. He also took home a national award, as he was selected Freshman of the Week by The Sports Network.Â
