Garnering her second Higher Images RMU Female Student-Athlete of the Week accolade of the last three weeks and the fifth of her career is senior Marissa Polk of the cross country team. At the 2014 Northeast Conference Championships last weekend in New Britain, Conn., Polk finished 10th, posting a time of 18:14.98 in the five-kilometer course at Stanley Quarter Park. Thanks to her performance, Polk earned All-NEC honors, becoming the first female student-athlete to earn multiple all-conference honors in program history. Named the 2011 NEC Freshman of the Year, Polk also earned All-NEC status in 2013. Polk’s time of 18:14.98 ranks second all-time in school history at the NEC Championships while also ranking third overall in a five-kilometer course.
