Garnering the first Higher Images RMU Male Student-Athlete of the Week honor of the 2015 calendar year is sophomore forward Daniel Leavens of the ice hockey team. Selected as the Atlantic Hockey Conference Player of the Month Wednesday, Leavens tied for the NCAA Division I lead in points during the month of December with nine. He scored three goals and registered six assists during the month. Leavens, a native of Thornhill, Ontario, opened the month of December with three consecutive multi-point games, including three assists in an 8-4 victory over Sacred Heart (12/6/14) at the RMU Island Sports Center. He capped the month with a goal and an assist as Robert Morris posted a 4-2 victory over No. 20 Penn State (12/29/14) as part of the Three Rivers Classic at CONSOL Energy Center. In 16 games so far this season, Leavens is tied for second for the Colonials in points with 18, having produced five goals and 13 assists.Â
