Freshman guard Marcquise Reed of the basketball team garners the Higher Images RMU Male Student-Athlete of the Week for Feb. 11, 2015. It marks the second honor of the 2014-15 season for the rookie. In a pair of games last week, Reed averaged 18.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.5 steals while shooting 66.7 percent (16-for-24) from the field. In a 72-65 setback @ LIU Brooklyn (2/5/15), Reed paced Robert Morris with 22 points, his eighth game eclipsing the 20-point plateau. That mark ties the RMU freshman record that was originally established by former guard Myron Walker (1990-94) during his rookie season in 1990-91. Two days later, Reed contributed 15 points and four assists in a 76-62 victory @ Fairleigh Dickinson, hitting seven of his 10 shots from the field. On the 2014-15 season, Reed leads the Colonials in scoring (15.0 ppg) and steals (43) while shooting 53.2 percent (133-for-250) from the floor. He is a six-time NEC Rookie of the Week honoree, an RMU school record.Â
