Junior Kristen Gabelt of the softball team garners the Higher Images RMU Female Student-Athlete of the Week honor for April 1, 2015. In six games last week, Gabelt hit .529 (9-for-17), drilling three home runs and smacking a pair of doubles while recording five runs scored and six RBI. Gabelt was at her best in a doubleheader of Mount St. Mary’s (3/29) at the North Athletic Complex, as she finished 3-for-6 in the sweep with three runs and four RBI. Each of her three hits were home runs. Gabelt also went 3-for-5 in a pair of victories over Sacred Heart (3/30), helping Robert Morris start 4-0 in Northeast Conference action. She was named the Northeast Conference Player of the Week (3/30) thanks to her performance against the Mount. So far on the 2015 campaign, Gabelt, a native of Ligonier, Pa., is hitting .381 (32-for-84) with seven doubles, five home runs, 15 runs and 18 RBI while owning a team-high .681 slugging percentage.
