For the third time in the last four weeks, a member of the golf team earns the Higher Images RMU Male Student-Athlete of the Week honor, as junior Santiago Mejia is the recipient for Oct. 16, 2013. A native of Bogota, Columbia, Mejia claimed fifth at the 2013 Dayton Flyer Invitational at NCR Country Club in Kettering, Ohio, earlier this week. He opened the 36-hole tournament with a two-under par 68 on the 6,828-yard North Course, tying for the third-lowest total in team history. In the second round Mejia shot a 72, giving him his third to 10 finish in four events on the 2013 fall campaign. His two-day score of 140 ranks as the second lowest score in a two-round tournament in school history and helped RMU finish third out of 16 teams competing at Flyer Invite. Through nine rounds this season, Mejia is averaging 72.7 strokes, tops for the Colonials.
