The RMU men’s golf team earns a special honor for the Higher Images RMU Male Student-Athlete of the Week for May 6, 2015, after the squad claimed its first Northeast Conference championship since 1996 and its first NCAA Tournament berth in program history last weekend. The Colonials finished with a three-day score of 892 at LPGA International Course in Daytona Beach, Fla., 14 strokes ahead of Bryant (906). Senior Matt Gurska took home the top individual finish for Robert Morris with a total of 222, which was good enough for fourth place. Gurska was one of four Colonials to finish in the top 10 individually, as junior Garrett Browning tied for fifth with a score of 223, while seniors Ryan Prokay and Santiago Mejia tied for seventh with a score of 225. Junior Dan Maier rounded out RMU’s five performers by finishing at 245. Robert Morris will travel to New Haven, Conn., to take part in the Yale Regional May 14-16. RMU is one of 14 institutions to take part in the Yale Regional and includes No. 1 seed Vanderbilt and automatic qualifiers Louisiana State, South Florida, San Diego State, North Texas, College of Charleston and Saint Peter’s.
