Earning the Giant Eagle RMU Male Student-Athlete of the Week nod for Jan. 13, 2016, is senior goalie Terry Shafer of the hockey team. In a pair of victories last weekend against Bentley at the RMU Island Sports Center, Shafer turned away 75 shots, allowing just one goal in the sweep. He registered 42 saves in a 5-1 victory Friday, Jan. 8, followed by 33 saves in a 5-0 shutout Saturday, Jan. 9. The shutout marked his third of the season as well as seventh of his career. For his efforts, Shafer was tabbed the Atlantic Hockey Goalie of the Week (1/12/16). On the 2015-16 campaign, Shafer posted a 2.47 goals against average to go along with a .931 save percentage. A native of Penfield, N.Y., Shafer has compiled an overall record of 8-5-1 (.607) in between the pipes.
