Garnering the Giant Eagle RMU Male Student-Athlete of the Week for March 30, 2016, is freshman goaltender Alex Heger of the lacrosse team. In helping lead the Colonials to a perfect 2-0 record in the Northeast Conference thanks to an 11-9 win @ Mount St. Mary’s (3/26), Heger made 12 saves in 45 minutes while allowing just three goals. He turned away eight shots in the second half and improved to 3-1 on the year with a goals against average of 6.81 and a save percentage of .622. Thanks to his performance against the Mount, Heger was tabbed the NEC Rookie of the Week for the second time in 2016.
