Tabbed as one of two honorees for the Giant Eagle RMU Female Student-Athlete of the Week for April 6, 2016, is senior Lauren Hackett of the softball team. In sweeps of Kent State (3/30) and Wagner (4/2) last week, Hackett hit .500 (6-for-12) at the dish, scored nine runs, jacked a pair of home runs and recorded seven RBI. Against the Golden Flashes at the RMU North Athletic Complex, Hackett drove in two runs in the first game, a 3-2 victory, including a sacrifice fly in the fifth inning that proved to be the game-winning RBI. In the second game of the double dip, Hackett finished 3-for-5 with four runs scored, a home run and five RBI in a 14-11 win. Her biggest hit of the game came in the bottom of the seventh, as she cracked a three-run dinger for the walk-off victory. In a pair of 6-5 wins @ Wagner in the 2016 Northeast Conference opener for the Colonials, Hackett combined to go 2-for-5 at the plate against the Seahawks with four runs. For her efforts, Hackett was named the NEC Co-Player of the Week (4/4). In 35 games this season, Hackett leads Robert Morris in RBI (15) while ranking second in runs (17).Â
