Senior Jessica Karwacki of the lacrosse team is the recipient of the Giant Eagle RMU Female Student-Athlete of the Week for April 13, 2016. A native of Sparks, Md., Karwacki scored seven goals and posted 14 draw controls in helping the Colonials open their Northeast Conference slate 2-0 with a pair of home victories last weekend at Joe Walton Stadium. In a 13-9 win over LIU Brooklyn (4/8) to open the 2016 NEC slate, Karwacki scored four goals, finished with two ground balls, caused two turnovers and registered 12 draw controls. Two days later in a 6-5 win over Sacred Heart (4/10), Karwacki scored three goals and posted a pair of draw controls. Over the weekend, Karwacki eclipsed 600 career draw controls, adding to her career NCAA record. She currently ranks fifth in the NCAA Division I with an average of 6.55 draw controls per game this year. Named the NEC Co-Player of the Week (4/11), Karwacki leads Robert Morris in goals (19) while ranking fourth in points (20).Â
