Tabbed the Giant Eagle RMU Male Student-Athlete of the Week for April 27, 2016, is freshman attack Eddie Smith of the lacrosse team. In a 13-8 victory over Saint Joseph’s (4/23) at Joe Walton Stadium that helped the Colonials clinch a berth in the 2016 Northeast Conference Tournament, Smith led Robert Morris with four goals and also recorded three ground balls. He scored the first three goals of the contest to give RMU a 3-0 lead, and his final tally of the game came with 37 seconds to go in the third quarter. That goal gave the Colonials an 8-7 advantage and ignited a run in which Robert Morris outscored Saint Joseph’s, 5-1, in the fourth quarter. Smith, a native of Victoria, British Columbia, was named NEC Rookie of the Week (4/25) after his performance against the Hawks. In 12 games, Smith has compiled 12 goals and registered three assists for 15 points. Â
