Senior midfielder Eric Rankel of the lacrosse team is the recipient of the Giant Eagle RMU Male Student-Athlete of the Week for May 11, 2016. A native of Downington, Pa., Rankel paced the Colonials against Saint Joseph’s in the semifinals of the 2016 Northeast Conference Tournament, recording a hat trick to lead the RMU scoring attack. Named to the 2016 All-NEC Second Team, Rankel finished the year with 13 goals and seven assists for 20 points in 14 games, including seven starts. A four-time All-NEC honoree throughout his career, Rankel finished with 84 goals, 45 assists and 129 points. He ranks sixth all-time in program history in points and seventh in points per game (2.26).
