Sophomore third baseman Olivia Lorusso is one of two softball players to garner the final Giant Eagle RMU Female Student-Athlete of the honor of the 2015-16 academic year. In the 2016 Northeast Conference Tournament in Brooklyn, N.Y., last weekend, Lorusso hit .438 (7-for-16) in five games with with three runs and three RBI. She also produced an OBPS of 1.339 thanks to a trio of doubles and a home run. A native of Eighty Four, Pa., Lorusso homered and produced the game-winning RBI in a 3-1 win over Bryant (5/13). In a 5-4, 15-inning victory against in-state rival Saint Francis U. (5/13) after the victory over the Bulldogs, Lorusso reached base in five of her seven plate appearances. She hit a game-tying double with two outs in the bottom of the 10th inning to keep the Colonials alive, then worked a walk in the bottom of the 15th and came around to score the eventual game-winning run. For her efforts, Lorusso was tabbed to the 2016 All-NEC Tournament Team.
