Garnering the Giant Eagle RMU Female Student-Athlete of the Week nod for Sept. 14, 2016, is sophomore middle blocker Brianna Schmid of the volleyball squad. In helping the Colonials post a 2-1 record at the UMBC Tournament last weekend in Baltimore, Md., Schmid compiled 27 kills against just six errors for a .300 attack percentage. She also finished with four service aces and 10 blocks. In a 3-0 sweep of Morgan State (9/10), Schmidt finished with seven kills, a .400 attack percentage, three service aces and a pair of blocks. On the same day against UMBC, the native of Wake Forest, N.C., recorded 10 kills and six blocks in a 3-1 victory. In 11 matches so far this season, Schmid has compiled 80 kills, a .226 attack percentage and a team-high 38 blocks.
