One of two members of the Robert Morris women’s hockey team to be honored as the Giant Eagle RMU Female Student-Athlete of the Week for Oct. 5 is freshman forward Jaycee Gebhard. In a season-opening sweep of Providence on the road, Gebhard led the way for the Colonials with four points thanks to a goal and three assists. Gebhard assisted on RMU’s first goal of the season in a 3-2 victory over the Friars Oct. 1, then lit the lamp at the 11:42 mark of the third period to tie the game, 2-2, as RMU went on a 3-2 victory. The next day, Gebhard, a native of Plenty, Saskatchewan, registered a pair of assists in another 3-2 win. For her efforts, Gebhard was tabbed the first College Hockey America (CHA) Rookie of the Week (10/3/16) of the 2016-17 campaign.
