A special season wrapup of the Giant Eagle RMU Student-Athlete of the Week highlights the season accomplishments of the 2016 fall season, as freshman linebacker Gee Stanley is bestowed the honor for Nov. 23, 2016. In a vote of league head coaches, Stanley was named the 2016 Northeast Conference Defensive Rookie of the Year Wednesday. On the season Stanley recorded 59 tackles, including 29 solo takedowns, to rank fifth for Robert Morris. He also established an RMU freshman record for sacks, posting eight and-a-half for the year. That total ranks fourth in the single-season annals. Stanley, a native of Miami, Fla., also concluded his season ranked third in the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) in fumble recoveries with three. Of his 59 tackles, Stanley accumulated 12.5 stops for losses that totaled 86 yards, ranking third in the NEC in tackles for loss.
