Earning one of two Giant Eagle RMU Male Student-Athlete of the Week honors for Dec. 28, 2016, is redshirt senior forward Aaron Tate of the basketball team. In a 74-71 win over Buffalo (12/21/16) at PPG Paints Arena that wrapped up RMU’s 2016-17 non-conference slate, Tate contributed nine points, seven rebounds and two steals. He finished 2-for-4 from the field and 5-of-6 at the free-throw line against the Bulls, and he capped an 8-0 surge that gave the Colonials a 68-62 lead with 1:01 remaining with a thunderous dunk off a feed from senior guard Kavon Stewart. Tate, who has led the Colonials in rebounding in nine of 13 games this season, is supplying Robert Morris with averages of 5.3 points and 7.2 rebounds per game. He leads RMU in rebounding and owns 405 career caroms. Â
