Redshirt senior forward Aaron Tate of the basketball team is the recipient of the Giant Eagle RMU Male Student-Athlete of the Week for Feb. 22, 2017. In a split through New England last week in its final road trip of the 2016-17 regular season, Tate averaged 11.0 points and 11.0 rebounds while shooting 66.7 percent (6-for-9) from the field and a perfect 10-for-10 at the free-throw line. In the opener of the two-game swing @ Bryant (2/16/17), Tate, a native of Cove City, N.C., recorded his second career double-double courtesy of 12 points and a career-high 14 rebounds. His offensive rebound at the 8:36 mark of the second half also helped Tate become the 18th member of the Robert Morris 500-Rebound Club. Two days later in a 74-64 victory @ Central Connecticut (2/18/17), Tate contributed 10 points while tying for game-high honors with eight caroms. The only student-athlete to start all 29 games for the Colonials this season, Tate is averaging 6.4 points and 6.9 rebounds per contest.Â
