In posting just the second shutout in the history of the College Hockey America (CHA) Tournament, senior goaltender Jessica Dodds is one of two recipients from the women’s hockey team to earn the Giant Eagle RMU Female Student-Athlete of the Week for March 8, 2017. Dodds registered 32 saves in a 2-0 victory over Syracuse (3/4/17) to help the Colonials earn their second CHA Tournament title and first automatic berth in the NCAA Tournament in program history. It marked the first shutout in the CHA Tournament final since 2003. In two games of the 2017 CHA Tournament, Dodds recorded 57 saves and allowed just one goal. Thanks to the performance, Dodds was tabbed the 2017 CHA Tournament Most Valuable Player (MVP). A native of London, Ontario, Dodds has posted a 16-2-5 record in between the pipes this season with a 1.75 goals against average and a .935 save percentage.Â
