Part of a rookie class that has helped lead the Colonials to new heights in 2013-14, freshman forward Maeve Garvey earns the latest Higher Images RMU Female Student-Athlete of the Week honor, which marks the third straight week a member of the women’s ice hockey team has garnered the accolade and seventh overall. In a sweep of RIT at the RMU Island Sports Center this past weekend that extended the program’s unbeaten streak to nine games, Garvey recorded a pair of goals. In a 4-2 win in the second game of the series, Garvey found the back of the net at the 17:37 mark of the second period that tied the score, 2-2. In the third period, the native of Oakville, Ontario, again found of the back of the net, producing the game-winning goal at the 10:36 mark. Overall on the 2013-14 season, Garvey has played in all 20 games and has supplied the Colonials with seven goals and four assists for 11 points.
