Named the Giant Eagle RMU Female Student-Athlete of the Week for April 5, 2017, is junior third baseman Olivia Lorusso of the softball team. In six games last week, Lorusso hit .316 (6-for-19) with four runs, seven RBI, a double and four home runs in helping Robert Morris open a perfect 4-0 in Northeast Conference action. Lorusso, a native of Eighty Four, Pa., went 3-for-5 at the dish in a two game road sweep of Central Connecticut (4/2), connecting for three dingers while driving in five runs. For her efforts against the Blue Devils, Lorusso was tabbed the NEC Player of the Week (4/3/17). In 31 games, all as a member of the starting lineup, Lorusso is hitting .341 (31-for-91) and leads the team in home runs (9) and RBI (28). She is just two round trippers away from the RMU single-season record for home runs of 11 that was established by Kali Byers (2003-06) in 2003.Â
