Selected as one of two Giant Eagle RMU Female Student-Athletes of the Week for April 26, 2017, is senior catcher Jordan Gurganus of the softball team. In five games last week, a stretch in which the Colonials posted a perfect 5-0 mark, Gurganus hit .565 (13-for-23) at the dish and scored eight runs while stealing four bases. She went 2-for-4 with two runs scored in a 12-0 win over Canisius (4/17) at the North Athletic Complex to begin action last week. In a two-game sweep of Saint Peter’s (4/21) on the road, Gurganus, a native of Chesapeake, Va., finished 6-for-9 with three runs scored, a triple and a pair of thefts. She concluded the week by going 5-for-10 with three runs scored and a stolen base in a road sweep of Fairleigh Dickinson (4/22) as Robert Morris returned to Northeast Conference action. In 44 games this season, Gurganus, who owns hitting streaks of six, eight and nine games this year, leads the Colonials in batting average (.392), runs (34) and stolen bases (13). She is the program’s all-time hit leader, as well, owning 241 career hits.
