Selected as one of two Giant Eagle RMU Female Student-Athletes of the Week for April 26, 2017, is senior Rachel Boody of the outdoor track & field team. At the JMU Invitational (4/22) last weekend, Boody, a native of Pittsburgh, Pa., claimed the individual title in the discus and also earned silver in the hammer throw for the Colonials. In the discus, her signature event, Boody extended her own school record in the event for the second consecutive meet, posting a throw of 48.08 meters (157’9”). In each of her four performances this season in the discus, Boody has eclipsed the ECAC-qualifying mark and in the RMU outdoor track & field record book she owns each of the top three distances as well as four of the top six. In the hammer throw at the JMU Invite, Boody finished with a toss of 54.36 meters (178’4”), which established a new personal record. For her efforts at the JMU Invitational, Boody was named the Northeast Conference Field Athlete of the Week (4/25). On the NEC leaderboard, Boody currently paces the circuit in the discus while ranking second in the hammer and also ranks 12th and 21st, respectively, in those events regionally in her attempt to qualify for the NCAA East Preliminaries.
