Named the Giant Eagle RMU Male Student-Athlete of the Week for May 3, 2017, is sophomore Daniel Franco Saad of the golf team. At the 2017 Northeast Conference Championships in Daytona Beach, Fla., Franco Saad carded a three-round total of 222 to finish fifth individually as the Colonials earned third place as a team. Franco Saad, a native of Bogota, Colombia, posted scores of 79, 71 and 72 to finish +6 for the three-day tournament. In the third and final round, Franco Saad tallied 12 pars and three birdies. He closed the round by posting back-to-back pars to secure his sixth round of below or even par this season. In 20 rounds in 2016-17, Franco Saad recorded an average round of 75.8, which ranked second for Robert Morris. He also recorded a trio of top 10 ten finishes.Â
