Earning one of two Giant Eagle RMU Female Student-Athlete of the Week nods for May 10, 2017, is freshman first baseman Taryn Miller of the softball team. In a sweep of Mount St. Mary’s (5/7) at the North Athletic Complex that helped the Colonials secure a berth in the 2017 Northeast Conference Tournament, Miller went 5-for-9 at the dish with a pair of home runs, a double and five RBI. She posted a slugging percentage of 1.333 and an OPS of 1.933 in the two games, and her single in the fifth inning in the first game of the double dip with the Mount, a 2-1 victory, drove in the eventual winning win. For her efforts, Miller was named both the NEC Player of the Week as well as the NEC Rookie of the Week (5/8). Miller enters the 2017 NEC Tournament with five home runs, 16 RBI and a .385 slugging percentage.Â
