Garnering one of two Giant Eagle RMU Female Student-Athlete of the Week nods for May 17, 2017, is senior Rachel Boody of the outdoor track & field squad. Boody, a native of Pittsburgh, Pa., earned All-East Coast accolades in two events at the 2017 ECAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships last weekend in Princeton, N.J., garnering the honor in the discus and hammer throw. In the discus, Boody recorded a throw of 49.62 meters (162’9”) to earn silver and earn All-East Coast plaudits for the second consecutive year in the event. In the hammer throw, Boody posted a toss of 53.64 meters (176’0”) to finish eighth. She becomes the first RMU student-athlete to earn All-East Coast accolades in two different events in the same year since Genita Dickey (1998-2001) in the 100-meter and 400-meter hurdles at the 2001 ECAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Boody qualified for the NCAA East Preliminaries in the discus and enters the competition this weekend seeded 44th.
