Sophomore Daniel Franco Saad is one of two student-athletes from the golf team to be named the Giant Eagle RMU Male Student-Athlete for May 24, 2017, the final honor of the 2016-17 campaign. In a vote of Northeast Conference head coaches, Franco Saad was named to the 2017 All-NEC Second Team last Thursday. He also earned a spot on the 2017 All-NEC Tournament Team after posting the top finish by a member of the Colonials with a fifth-place finish thanks to a three-day score of 222. Overall in 2016-17, Franco Saad carded an average round of 75.8, which finished second for Robert Morris. His best round of the year came at the Cleveland State Invitational in the fall of 2016, when he fired a 67 during the second round, a mark that tied the program record for lowest score relative to par in a single round.
