Garnering the Giant Eagle RMU Female Student-Athlete of the Week for Oct. 4, 2017, is senior setter Brianna Frakes of the volleyball squad. She is the fifth different student-athlete from the volleyball team to earn the accolade this fall. A native of Clarkston, Mich., Frakes helped the Colonials stretch their winning streak to four, including a perfect 3-0 in Northeast Conference action, last weekend by averaging 31.5 assists and 10.5 digs in a pair of matches. She also posted five kills in nine total attempts against no errors for a .556 attack percentage. In a 3-0 sweep of Sacred Heart (9/29), Frakes posted a pair of kills, 29 assists and nine digs. The next day in a 3-0 sweep of Fairleigh Dickinson (9/30), she recorded her fifth double-double of the season with 34 assists and 12 digs. In 63 sets this season, Frakes has posted an average of 8.08 assists per set, which ranks third in the Northeast Conference.
