Garnering her third Giant Eagle RMU Female Student-Athlete of the Year accolade of the 2017-18 campaign is redshirt senior forward Brittany Howard of the hockey team. In a split with No. 5 Ohio State last weekend at Colonials Arena at the RMU Island Sports Center, Howard netted three goals, including a pair in a 3-2 overtime victory in the second game of the series. Howard, a native of St. Thomas, Ontario, scored at the 5:18 mark of the third in the second game to tie the score, 2-2. In the extra period, Howard lit the lamp at 1:36 to give the Colonials a key victory. The program’s all-time leading scorer, Howard owns 17 goals this season, tops in the NCAA. She also has scored 26 points thanks to nine helpers. For her efforts against the Buckeyes, Howard notched her third College Hockey America (CHA) Player of the Week (11/27/17) honor.
