Earning one of two Giant Eagle RMU Male Student-Athlete of the Week honors form the hockey squad for Dec. 20, 2017, the final accolade of the 2017 calendar year, is sophomore goaltender Francis Marotte. In a home-and-home sweep of Mercyhurst, Marotte earned a pair of victories in between the pipes, making 57 saves and posting a .919 save percentage. He finished with 35 saves in the opening game of the series before notching 22 saves in the second game to complete the sweep. Marotte, a native of Longueuil, Quebec, was named the Atlantic Hockey Goaltender of the Week thanks to his performance against the Lakers. In 17 games this season, including 15 as the starter, Marotte owns a record of 7-7-1 (.500) and a goals against average of 2.87.
