In helping lead the Colonials to their first Northeast Conference Tournament title and subsequent bid to the NCAA Tournament last weekend, junior goaltender Alex Heger has been selected as the Giant Eagle RMU Male Student-Athlete of the Week for May 9, 2018. In wins over Bryant and Saint Joseph’s, Heger finished with 23 saves. He finished with 15 in a 12-5 victory over the Bulldogs in the semifinals, then turned away eight shots in the championship game against the Hawks, a 9-8 overtime win that sent Robert Morris dancing. For his efforts, Heger was named the 2018 NEC Tournament MVP as well as earned a spot on the All-NEC Tournament Team. In 16 starts, Heger has compiled a .603 save percentage, a 7.50 goals against average and owns a 12-5 record.
